Deadline is Friday to register for the WE Feed Kids 5K in Chimacum

CHIMACUM — There will be a charity 5K run/walk event at 11 a.m. Saturday.

The fundraising event will start on the track at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

The event, jointly sponsored by the WE Act Club at the high school and the Community Wellness Project of Jefferson County, will raise money for healthy food for students at Emburis Primary School in Monduli, Tanzania.

Nakaji Lukumay, the founder and director of the Emburis school will be on hand for the event.

The event will end with light snacks at Finnriver Cidery and Farm, 124 Center Road.

Registration costs $35 per person, $10 for students and is free to any entrant with $35 or more in sponsorship.

Participants must register by noon Friday at www.jccwp.org.
