CHIMACUM — Two tenants lost all their belongings when they were burned out of their living quarters, a recreational vehicle.
They were offered temporary living assistance, said Bill Beezley, East Jefferson Fire Rescue spokesman.
The recreational vehicle being used as a residence and surrounding vegetation in Chimacum burned Thursday afternoon, Beezley said.
Firefighters had arrived to what was originally reported as a grass fire in the 100 block of Center Road at 2:06 p.m. They found a structure in flames and approximately 1.1 acres surrounding it burned.
The cause of the blaze is under investigation but is not believed to be suspicious, Beezely said.
The two tenants who lived in the recreational vehicle reported the fire before evacuating with their dog.
They lost all their belongings, their car and the residence, Beezley said.
Units from Quilcene Fire Rescue, Port Ludlow Fire & Rescue, Department of Natural Resources and Naval Magazine Indian Island assisted in fighting the fire.
