ALACHUA, Fla. — Port Angeles 12U rebounded nicely from an opening-game shutout to beat Sylvan Hills, Ark., 12-8 at the Cal Ripken Major World Series on Thursday.
Port Angeles jumped out to a 7-0 lead before Sylvan Hills cut the advantage to 7-4.
Port Angeles rolled to five more runs to take a 12-4 lead into the bottom of the sixth and final inning.
Sylvan Hills rallied for four in the frame, but Port Angeles held off the rally to improve to 1-1 in the tournament’s National Division.
Port Angeles returns to action Friday at 2:30 p.m. against the team from Gilcrest, Fla.
