PORT TOWNSEND — The 13th annual Woodworkers’ Show will be open to the public from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday.
The free show will be on display at American Legion Hall, 209 Monroe St.
The show will feature the work of furniture makers, cabinetmakers, turners, carvers and instrument makers from around the Olympic Peninsula.

UFO author to speak
PORT TOWNSEND — New Zealand author and UFO experiencer Suzy Hansen will speak about her book and her experiences from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. today.
The talk will be at Unity Church, 3918 San Juan Ave.
A $10 donation is suggested.
Hansen, who wrote “The Dual Soul Connection: The Alien Agenda for Human Advancement,” will speak on two topics: the alien and human interface, and the soul connection and alien technology — the “new physics” of intelligent light and consciousness, according to the Washington Mutual UFO Network.
She will talk about contact experiences since childhood she said took place on a craft and she will also talk about a “complex positive alien agenda to advance mankind.”
The event is sponsored by the Washington Mutual UFO Network and the Olympic UFO Meet-up.

First Friday lecture
PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County Historical Society will sponsor a lecture by artist Hannah Viano from 7 to 8 tonight.
The lecture will be presented in the Port Townsend City Council chambers in historic City Hall, 540 Water St.

Viano will speak on papercut artwork and on her artist residencies abroad.

Mental health film
PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County National Alliance on Mental Illness will present a free screening of “It’s Kind of Funny” at noon Saturday.
The film will be shown at Rose Theatre, 235 Taylor St.
The film, rated PG-13, follows a suicidal teen as he spends time in an adult psychiatric ward.
The 2010 film is being shown as part of Mental Health Awareness Week.
There will be a question-and-answer session after the film.
Geology lecture
PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson Land Trust’s Geology Group will host a lecture by Megan Anderson at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Anderson’s lecture on the tectonics of the Puget Sound lowlands will be presented at First Baptist Church, 1202 Lawrence St.
The lecture is free and open to the public although a $5 donation would be appreciated.
Anderson is a geologist with Washington Geological Survey.

The 2008 documentary tells the story of theologian Stephen Jenkinson who teaches that knowing grief helps people to appreciate their lives. A discussion will follow.
The film screenings will kick-off a film and roundtable series on grief, death and dying presented by Bwell Integrative Wellness and Unity.
The film and take-home readings will be the springboard for discussion groups beginning Nov. 14.
