Sarah Decker, Rod Fleck and Josh Goakey serve as auctioneers during the live auction portion of the 17th annual Cherish our Children fundraiser Friday night at the Elks Lodge in Forks.

The item up for bid, being held by Goakey, was a scale model wooden cement mixer created at the Olympic Corrections Center (OCC) wood shop. Inmates at OCC created a number of items that were auctioned off.

Other items in the live auction were homemade pies, native baskets and other one-of-a-kind donations. While the live auction was going on, silent auction tables also were busy with bidders.

Organizer Emily Foster said, “We were so pleased with the quality of donations this year.”

Each year the auction raises funds to buy gifts for children in need in the communities of La Push and Forks.

This was the first year that Cherish Our Children has been held in Forks. For the past 16 years, the event has been held at the Akalat Center in La Push.
