NEWS BRIEFS: Calling for unity at Sunday service … and other items

PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics’ 10:30 a.m. Sunday service speaker will be the Rev. Bill Evans.

His lesson at the church at 2917 E. Myrtle St. is titled “To Unity … and Beyond!”

Evans has been a part-time farmer, network engineer, CEO business owner, educational assistant and college instructor.

A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

Child care is available during the service.

Buffet luncheon

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Christian Women’s Connection will host a “Hoo-Ray for the USA” buffet luncheon at Joshua’s Restaurant & Lounge on Tuesday.

Spots are limited for the event, so staff members advise those interested to make reservations. To place a reservation, call Carol at 360-457-3425.

The event costs $16 and will be held 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the restaurant, 113 Delguzzi Drive.

Featured will be a surprise from the Clallam County Historical Society.

Jan Bonn, of Redmond, Ore. will be accompanied by Nina Peterson for a speech.

Pianists Lynne Trerise and Marilyn McNamara will provide music.
