LETTERS: U.S. laws prevent flood of illegal immigration

Here are some basic facts about illegal immigration.

First, crossing our border illegally is a criminal offense.

Second, every president is sworn to execute the laws of the United States.

Third, the U.S. Government is responsible to the citizens of the United States, not to the world at large.

Fourth, those poor children have been put in a terrible situation by their parents who entered the U.S. illegally, not by us, the lawful citizens of this country.

If those people protesting the U.S. Immigration & Customs Enforcement last Saturday (June 30) want to revoke the criminal penalties for illegally crossing our border, let them contact their federal representatives and say so.

But be prepared for the consequences of this foolish action.

Look at Europe.

When you open the floodgates, what you get is a flood.
