LETTER: Will not support Waddell for Clallam PUD commission

Not solar country

The Peninsula Daily News, Sept. 23, page A8, “PUD candidates discuss BPA, carbon tax views,” quoted candidate Jim Waddell as claiming “This is not wind country, but it is solar country.”

What?

Does Waddell live in the same Clallam County that I do?

If candidate Waddell wants to see “solar country” he can visit virtually any place in the southern half of the United States between the Atlantic Ocean and the Pacific Ocean.

By contrast, Clallam County has two seasons: nine months of overcast skies and three months of road construction.

In addition, Waddell spoke approvingly [in the article] of the carbon tax Initiative 1631.

I think Clallam County can do better than Jim Waddell for PUD commissioner.

David Johnson,

Port Angeles
