LETTER: We had a wonderful time visiting Olympic National Park, Pacific Northwest

My family stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Sequim on the day that Tesla had a grand opening of its Supercharger electrical car charging stations, of which I believe there are eight.

This will encourage more drivers concerned with lowering air pollution to visit Olympic National Park, the Dungeness Spit, the lavender farms, etc.

I commend them for their community-mindedness at Holiday Inn Express and Tesla.

Second, we visited Olympic National Park on Aug. 2-3 and enjoyed it immensely.

However, we are concerned about the mountain goats being taken out of Olympic National Park because of the danger that park officials say they pose to park visitors.

Life has risks, and anytime a person gets behind the wheel, there is a chance of a fatal accident.

In three days of traveling the park, we failed to see one mountain goat.

If there is a problem, it is that there are too few.

Please let the National Park Service know that mountain goats are important to tourism as well as the environment and to also increase other species.

We had a wonderful time in Washington state enjoying the bounty of natural wonders.

Please keep making the effort to protect these resources.
