LETTER: Waddell well-qualified for Clallam PUD

I think we as citizens in Clallam County need to give serious thought to who we elect as our next representative to the PUD Board of Commissioners.

Too often, we tend to keep re-electing incumbents to public office because their names are familiar.

We also often do not value the importance of community boards when many initiatives and other political offices demand our attention in elections.

Please research and consider Jim Waddell for District 1 PUD commissioner.

The PUD Board of Commissioners is in need of new leadership and direction.

Waddell is one of the most experienced hydro-energy candidates to run for this office in many years.

His work for 35 years with the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers involved him in federal projects working with hydro-electric power producers that resulted in reigning in millions of dollars of unnecessary costs and saved millions of dollars for taxpayers.

In addition, he understands the importance of renewable energy to meet future needs as we cope with a warming environment.

Mr. Waddell is also fighting for greater transparency from the PUD Board of Commissioners.

Too many vital decisions that affect our energy future are being made without adequate public input and awareness.

Please join in voting for this outstanding candidate and help make PUD a more responsible and effective public utility.

Carrol Hull,

Sequim
