LETTER: Vapid answers in ‘Speaking Out’ feature erode my faith in humanity

If there is one single feature in the Peninsula Daily News that erodes my faith in humanity, it would be the Sunday “Speaking Out” feature on the Commentary page.

The mostly vapid and ignorant answers in reply to often serious questions leave me shaking my head or figuratively banging it against a wall.

At least it helps me understand how we got to electing Donald Trump as our president.

I think maybe keeping the Sunday question more lighthearted would be a better idea, like “What’s your favorite movie of all time?” or “What’s your favorite Peninsula day trip?”

The onslaught of terrible news that mostly stems from our current political climate bombards my very soul every day.

The levels of ignorance never fail to shock me.

I think perhaps the “Speaking Out” feature will be something I need to skip from now on to protect my mental health.

Especially since it’s entirely possible that mental health care coverage may not even be available to me in the future.
