LETTER: Values don’t include voting for Trump candidates

People of differing views should have a conversation and even if opinions aren’t changed, we may come to understand a different point of view.

I believe in the right to life; therefore, I do not believe in abortion or the death penalty.

I also do not believe any one person has the right to take the life of another simply because they have access to a firearm capable of that carnage.

I believe in everyone’s right to drink clean water and breathe fresh air.

I believe in measures that are taken to improve our water and air and not measures that encourage pollution.

I believe the United States of America should encourage and develop our relationships with our allies.

The U.S. should not start trade wars or antagonize our friends unnecessarily or aid nations that are not friends of the U.S.

I believe immigration is what made America great and will continue to make America great.

I believe climate change is a real phenomenon and the country should be working not just to save our water and our air, but the whole earth.

I believe our leaders should speak only truths.

I believe our leaders should be looking out for the welfare of all Americans, not just an elite few.

I believe health care should be available to every American at a reasonable cost.

These beliefs arise from the Golden Rule: Do to others as you would have them do to you.

I believe to save this country, you should vote against any candidate who supports President Donald Trump’s un-American values in the mid-term elections.
