LETTER: Tribe seeks needless slaughter of whales

In a recent front page news article in the PDN it was reported that the Makah Tribe members are working to get permission to kill more whales.

One question, why?

Oh, I know, it is about their culture, traditions and heritage.

Well, as almost everyone knows, these things fade away in time.

If the Native Americans really want to stay with their claimed traditions and culture, why not hunt the whales the way it was done many years ago and simply use only hand-rowed canoes and spears?

Hopefully permits will not be issued for this needless slaughter.
