LETTER: Thanks to Crab Festival volunteers

Thanks to volunteers

I spent the weekend of Oct. 5-7 working in the main crab booth at the Dungeness Crab and Seafood Festival.

Each year more people come to the area to attend the event which supports our area and they get to eat some great food.

The event couldn’t happen if it weren’t for the many volunteers that spend their weekend working extremely hard.

I want to make sure that they get the recognition that they deserve.

I have been working in one way or another with the crab fest since the beginning and know there are a few volunteers that I have been there every year and there are new people each year, as well.

This year I had the privilege of working with a group of young people from Port Angeles High School’s Jr. NJROTC program.

I was so impressed with how hard they all worked. They had groups scheduled to be there early in the morning and they came and went until it was over at 10 p.m. Some of them volunteered to stay later than their scheduled shifts; not one student complained, no matter how dirty the job was we asked them to do. They were all very well-mannered, hardworking respectful young adults.

Their parents, instructors, and the school should be extremely proud of them. They represented you very well.

I also want to give a shout out to Kelly Hill’s daughter, Jonelle, who spent her entire weekend working hard supporting her mom and doing just about every job there was to do.

Denise Dahll,
