LETTER: Supports Sequim library ballot questions

My first library was a Carnegie Library in the 1940s in a small town in Michigan.

No talking and no dirty hands meant that no one lingered in the library of my childhood.

Thanks goodness libraries have changed.

Today, libraries have become community centers, vibrant places where children, teens and adults interact and where 21st-century networking co-exists with print.

But becoming a viable community center is a challenge for a small library which serves a growing population.

One case in point is the present Sequim Library.

On any given day, you are lucky to find a quiet reading nook or a table with elbow room, let alone reserve the single meeting room or an hour of computer time.

Carnegie libraries served us well.

The “small but mighty” Sequim Library has served us well.

But we can do better.

On Nov. 6 let’s make the Sequim Library large and mighty.

Please vote yes on the two ballot questions for the new Sequim Library.
