LETTER: State should keep capital punishment for murder

A headline on page 6 of the PDN’s Jan. 8 issue says, “Lawmakers to again consider eliminating capital punishment.”

To which I reply, “why?”

Most people do as society expects.

Get an education, a job, perhaps a family, contribute positively to society in some meaningful way, serve themselves productively and their city, county, state, country, mankind (humanity) in some legal, positive way — and be rewarded for their life giving benefits honoring all those entities by living a life of honorable achievements — as intended by “Our Maker.”

But, apparently — not by our local (state) lawmakers — as they are now choosing to reward first-degree murderers with a lifetime of free housing, food, entertainment, freedom from labor, worry, responsibility, duty to society – for a lifetime.

And all at the expense of the rest of us out here trying to make life better for those coming behind us.

So, to sum up who our politicians are apparently working for is their own well paid livelihood, and “easy lifetime criminals” — (“lifers”) who choose to take a life away in order to enjoy the rest of their all-gain-no-pain, free, easy living, no respect, no lifetime responsibilities.

And, fully paid for by the rest of us, thanks to our state and federal law-makers now proposing Senate Bill 6052.

I say: “You take a life, you lose yours immediately upon conviction. No soup or free vacation for life for you.”
