LETTER: RV housing not the answer for Port Angeles

Out of the rut

I was so glad to read the article on the RV ordinance debate (“Port Angeles planners reject proposal to allow RVs for housing,” Aug. 24).

Port Angeles is a jewel of a city. It’s time to buff it out and make it shine.

How can we expect people to want to upgrade and invest in property when driving around you see people living in RVs all over town?

Prices of building or remodeling in the city have skyrocketed because of all the code changes.

It is time to make new ordinances to protect people’s investments and encourage beautification of this city.

Many people work from home and can live anywhere they choose. Encourage home ownership instead of rentals and enforce codes that will ensure property owners don’t get stuck with RVs, junk yards or unregistered trash cars next door.

There is plenty of open space county land for that.

Port Angeles has the potential to be way more beautiful than the city of Sequim. yet look at the economic difference.

Let’s get Port Angeles out of this rut it is stuck in and let’s vote into office the people who will work toward this change.

Lydia Gilman,

Port Angeles
