LETTER: Restore prestige, replace the president

Looking back at the last election, I am concerned about how Donald Trump became president.

It was obvious to me that this man was wholly unfit to lead this great nation.

I could not understand how a great number of religious conservatives could have voted for him considering who and what he was.

A man whose family values included adultery, mocking a disabled person, grabbing women, dishonoring a gold star family, showing disrespect for women and minorities, showing disrespect for a veteran, discrediting the intelligence community, conducting a sham university, stifing vendors and this is all just a small list.

And on top of all that, there is the thrashing of our North Atantic Treaty Organization allies and the love affair with a dictator who attacks our democracy.

Is that the kind of leadership that we want?

I hope not, because if it is, we are no longer a nation that provides a guiding light to the rest of the world.

We no longer can hold up the president to our children as an example of values to emulate.

I hope the reality of Donald Trump will awaken those who voted for him and will guide them in the coming elections.

We must elect politicians in the House and Senate who will hold the president accountable for his words and actions and restore the prestige that the Office of the President of the most powerful nation on Earth deserves.

Stan Riddle,

Sequim
