LETTER: Peninsula still short on specialty medical care

Why is nobody complaining about their medical care?

We are senior citizens and last year we paid about $9,000 for supplemental medical insurance in addition to Medicare.

If you have a skin problem and you go to a local dermatologist they will probably tell you that they are not taking any new patients.

If you are already a patient and they discover that you have a skin cancer that needs surgery they will schedule you to do it in about three months.

Don’t even think about trying to get them to do it sooner, forget it.

I did a little survey among friends and neighbors and they all tell me that’s just the way it is.

I, for one, don’t want to wait.

If I have skin cancer that keeps growing and it hurts, I sure don’t want to wait three months to get rid of it.

Maybe people who have already outlived the mortality statistics shouldn’t complain.
