LETTER: Parents need to pay attention to sex education legislation

Jesus, talking to the Pharisees, said, “You know how to interpret the appearance of the sky, but you cannot interpret the signs of the times” (Matthew 16:3b).

As parents we are so often focused on the day-to-day priorities that we forget to look ahead.

If only we would look at the upcoming bills that are being presented in Olympia, we could have a good idea of what our children’s lives are going to be like in the future.

SB 5395 (HB 1407), if passed, could require every Washington state public school to provide to your children and mine comprehensive sexual education.

By putting these lifestyles in a positive light the schools are grooming and indoctrinating our children.

CDC data shows that “lesbian, gay, and bisexual high school students are at substantial risk for serious health outcomes as compared to their peers.”

If our schools had the students’ best interests in mind they would be teaching the dangers of these lifestyles rather then encouraging them.

We parents need to wake up and pay attention to what our legislators and our schools are doing.
