LETTER: Need to stop drugs across the border, not walkers

Sequim is a town of elders who have lived all over the country; I personally have lived in six states, including the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas.

I canoed the Rio Grande River, camping on both sides and passing beautiful riverfront ranches on both sides,

Happy peaceful ranchers live there with no immigration problems.

Thirty Mexicans worked for my husband, crossed the river and returned to Mexico every evening.

Many other people did the same.

A wall would ruin the use of the river and the peaceful, beautiful setting for the people who live there.

However, it would not prevent the entrance of harmful drugs because they do not come through the desert by foot.

Money should go instead to highway entrances, airports, coastlines and the Canadian border.

Drugs are the emergency, not walkers, who are fewer than before.

I appreciate the Sequim wall protesters.

Thank you for your effort.
