LETTER: Kennedy the leader needed for Jefferson prosecuting attorney

Leadership requires mutual respect, which is why James Kennedy has my vote for Jefferson County prosecuting attorney.

The prosecutor can’t do the job alone.

Most cases start with a 9-1-1 call that is handled by a dispatcher.

Local law enforcement personnel respond and if there are injuries, the fire department is dispatched.

If it is domestic violence or sex crime, a victim advocate may get involved.

This all happens before reports have been written and before the prosecutor is aware that a crime has been committed.

In more involved cases, there are months of follow-up investigation, scientific tests and victim interviews.

Prosecution is a team effort and teams work best when there is mutual respect.

James Kennedy has shown true leadership skills.

He has trained and led both civilians and soldiers while serving in Iraq.

He has managed million-dollar budgets.

He has developed ties with local law enforcement, enabling them to work together in an atmosphere of mutual respect.

Our county needs results, James is going to get results.

James will get the prosecutor’s budget under control.

James will work with law enforcement, victims services, mental health and treatment providers.

This county needs a change. It needs James Kennedy.
