LETTER: Inslee, Ferguson disappointing with actions

Inslee, Ferguson

Following up on a letter titled “The People’s Will” (PDN, March 31) it cites the Associated Press stating that Attorney General Bob Ferguson called out sheriffs threatening to not enforce I-1639 by saying they should follow it because it’s the will of the people.

Apparently, Governor Jay Inslee and his side rod, AG Ferguson, have sent almost half of Washington’s 39 county sheriffs letters saying they may be prosecuted if they will not enforce the anti-Second Amendment ballot initiative passed in this state, backed mainly by urban voters, that puts onerous restrictions on lawful gun owners and severely restricts their unalienable right to self-defense.

Inslee and Ferguson have also sent 262 letters to gun dealers, supposedly warning and vaguely threatening them to enforce the anti-gun initiative.

Now Inslee, who is seeking the Democratic nomination for president, wants taxpayers to pay $4 million for the State Patrol to be his security detail, as in armed bodyguards, when he campaigns for president while hypocritically expecting county sheriffs and gun dealers across the state to repress the rights of law-abiding gun owners to defend themselves.

Also, Inslee sank to a new low with a petty stunt, refusing to sign certificates of recognition for marksmanship by the Washington State Police Pistol Association.

They are the very people he expects to defend him at taxpayers’ expense.

The inevitable response of the gun deniers is to call people with guns to protect them.

There’s a disconcerting false sense of security emanating from voters of this state.
