LETTER: I-1631 an unlimited tax, could bankrupt Washington

No on I-1631

You are being asked to approve an unlimited tax, based on fossil fuel usage, which will financially bankrupt this state.

Everything brought into the peninsula will cost you more — food, clothing, medicine, energy administration cost, etc., due to the increased transportation cost.

This tax will continue for the next 31 years and will be managed by a governor-appointed board directing every state agency to comply.

These agencies will increase in size due to this burden, costing you more.

Your energy burden is defined as household income spent on road transportation and home energy bills, but doesn’t address those listed.

Who will benefit from this tax?

People with lower incomes to eliminate the increased energy burden and non-supervisory fossil fuel workers who are affected by the transition away from fossil fuels to a clean energy economy. How about those thousands that become unemployed?

Electrical car power charging stations, gasoline taxes pay for highways and local roads so should electric vehicles.

The terrifying part is Sec. 6. (d), “Developing and implementing education programs at public schools to expand awareness of and increase preparedness for the environmental, social, and economic impacts of climate change and strategies to reduce pollution.”

This mind control, brain washing.

Yes, the world’s climate is changing, it has since the beginning.

Washingtonians will have little impact on the planet.

How many metric tons of carbon were emitted during this past summer’s fires?

Vote no on I-1631.
