LETTER: Humans deserve at least same treatment as mountain goats

Thanks to excellent reporting by Jesse Major on the relocation operations for Olympic National Park’s mountain goats (“Next stop for Olympic mountain goats: Cascades,” Peninsula Daily News, Sept. 14-15), I learned that goat nannies and their kids are transported together to reduce stress.

As reported: “They are shipped in modified crates that allow them to face each other during the transport.

A mesh between them allows them to see and smell each other.”

In addition, Northwest Trek Wildlife Park Veterinarian Dr. Alison Case is quoted: “We just want to do what we can to keep the mom and kid together and keep them comfortable.”

Meanwhile, the Trump regime keeps children, some under age five, cruelly separated from their parents after seeking asylum on our southern border.

How can our current government justify treating mountain goats with more sensitivity, respect and protection of parental bond than for human beings?

A shameful question.
