LETTER: GOP’s rosy budget rhetoric a scam on Americans

U.S. Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) aptly described the situation we are in when he said “The Congressional Budget Office’s latest report exposes the scam behind the rosy rhetoric from Republicans that their tax bill would pay for itself.

“From day one, the Republican agenda has always been to balloon the deficit in order to dole out massive tax breaks to the largest corporations and wealthiest Americans, and then use the deficit as an excuse to cut Social Security and Medicare.”

With the passing of their new tax code, the GOP has moved on to Phase Two, which is the plan to use the deficit as an excuse to cut Social Security and Medicare.

It was outlined in the 2019 House Republican budget titled, “A Brighter American Future.”

The proposed budget portends a very gloomy future for millions of less affluent Americans.

The budget resolution would cut $537 billion from Medicare, $1.5 trillion from Medicaid and $4 billion from Social Security Disability Insurance, according to media reports.

It will be “A Brighter American Future” if you are one of the 1 percent plutocrats but not if you are a common citizen.
