LETTER: Funding for Waterfront Center could be better spent

Need more housing

This town desperately needs to become cognizant of Mahatma Gandhi’s wisdom, “A nation’s greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members.”

This applies directly to America, but it can only be accomplished one town at a time.

Kudos to the PDN for the front page of Sunday, Oct. 15.

It juxtaposed the absurdity of an all new $45 million “arts venue” with the struggles of Serenity House to reopen and maintain minimal shelter for the exploding population of homeless people.

There is no need whatsoever for new stages and galleries. We have many such places.

What we don’t have enough of is decent housing for our weakest members.
