LETTER: Democrats concerned about tax cuts that level playing field

Democrats are alarmed that President Donald Trump’s tax cuts help only the wealthy, that patterns of inequality continue with the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer and that the lowly worker sees ongoing erosion of spending power but management sees continual increases in profits.

Nancy Pelosi termed the tax cuts, “the end of the world.”

Democrats are alarmed because, per mainstream — meaning left-leaning — media, any action that Trump undertakes hurts the poor in favor of the well-heeled, will ensure that the prosperous continue to benefit at the expense of the less fortunate, and proves that he is a rich man’s president.

Democratic leader Chuck Schumer warns of a “gut punch to the middle class.”

But 22 of the top 30 wealthiest counties in the U.S. are Democratic strongholds whereas the 10 poorest counties are located in red states, and six of the 10 wealthiest states are governed by Democrats while 9 of the 10 poorest are headed by Republicans.

So, if Trump is a rich man’s president whose policies help only the affluent, why the heck are these rich Democrats alarmed?

Why don’t they just keep their mouths shut and enjoy the argess?

Unless, of course, it’s just another Democratic smokescreen and that Trump’s polices are actually helping the lower income groups attain parity with the well-to-do, which will level the economic playing field, leaving the rich with a — gasp — diminished power base.

And this last one, to a Democrat, is really alarming.
