LETTER: Citizens should speak up for Eighth Street bridge railings

Once again, approximately 15 years later, I write another letter appealing to the city to build pedestrian safety railings over both the Eighth Street bridges.

I cannot believe the many different City Council members and city mayors who seem to live conscience-free after all the lives lost to suicidal leaps.

The suffering endured by the many different families as well as Port Angeles High School students is endless.

In addition, this has to be very traumatic to all those who must respond to this dreadful call.

We need pedestrian safety railings; this is the only way to prevent any further suicidal leaps from these two bridges.

Make your voices be heard. Lean on the Port Angeles mayor and City Council members.

Build those safety railings.

Dennis R. “Sully” Sullivan,
