LETTER: Children separated from parents by U.S. law

I saw a child ripped from the arms of his family.

It was 5-year-old Elian Gonzalez screaming as he was ripped from the arms his family and shipped back to the slavery of Communist Cuba in 2000 in violation of his dead mother’s desire that he live in freedom.

Even President Clinton tried to dodge that one by blaming it on the Attorney General, Janet Reno.

Today Elian is a hero of Communist Cuba, like he has a choice, according to media reports.

But, children are not being “ripped from the arms of their parents” at the border.

It’s a lie.

They are being separated from their parents, as is required by law (“Sessions: Parents, children entering U.S. illegally will be separated,” NBC News, May 7).

We don’t put children who have not committed a crime in jail.

Children are removed from their parents every day in America for a number of reasons: drugs, violence, DUI, and other arrests, ranging from unpaid traffic tickets to murder.

The reason the progressives are saying “ripped from the arms of their parents” is to evoke emotional outrage.

The fact they are lying to the American people doesn’t bother them, or the progressive press even a little bit.

They want you outraged at Trump.

That is the sole purpose.

The progressives are refusing to recognize the results of elections they lose and they think they can get away with it.

They will, too, if you don’t have the good sense to realize they’re lying to you.

If they’ll lie to you about this, they will lie about anything.
