LETTER: Black brings admirable credentials for District Court

While I am friends with John Black’s able opponent, Superior Court Judge Eric Rohrer, and also believe he would ably and honorably continue in his service as our district court judge, John Black brings an especially desirable slate of credentials to the District Court 2 position.

John Black has served as an attorney in that court for 17 years.

For that period, no other lawyer in private practice has appeared so often or harmonized so well with the needs and expectations of the people of western Clallam County.

He’s a gifted lawyer with an intense love and sense of duty to his fellow citizens.

The Forks District Court is where he belongs.

John started life missing most of what I took for granted growing up.

Along the way many years ago, he stood convicted of felony distribution of marijuana before a federal judge who could see his potential.

He gave incentives and encouragements to John to get an education and attend law school.

I hired John out of law school for all the right reasons and I’ve been very blessed with his association and friendship over the years.

He convinced the bar association to let him sit for the bar exam.

He passed the exam.

The state Supreme Court demanded that he prove his fitness to practice law and he overwhelmingly accomplished this to their satisfaction.

Black has fought battles that few of us have had to face and he overcame them all and prospered.

His perspective, humility, positive work ethic and earned wisdom will greatly benefit and bless the citizens of the West End.
