LETTER: Asking landlords to be merciful in housing shortage

“Where do I start?”

Familiar words to renters caught in the housing shortage.

Landlords are seeing a huge opportunity to sell in the current housing shortage.

Renters of those dwellings are being asked to move.

People originally blessed with a roof over their heads are searching for a new one or for a place to store belongings while they look.

Neither option is easy to find.

Additionally, if a rental is found, the cost is often too expensive.

My husband and I found something quickly, but that is not the case for most renters in our area.

Many have had to discard most of their life’s memories to fit into a smaller place.

Others have had to part with precious family pets, because the only place they could find did not allow pets.

Rental property owners, please consider the plight of people contacting you and have mercy on them.

Consider the “pay it forward” idea.

Charge something affordable instead of utilizing the housing shortage to gain more.

Allow your no-pet rental to house a beloved pet.

When you give up a little to help others you reap good things in your life.

If you are reading this in the comfort of your dwelling, look up and thank God for the roof over your head and consider how you can help someone thinking, “where do I start?”

“Give and it will be given to you.

“A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.

“For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Luke 6:38 NASB
