I-1639 bad initiative, unsupported by major law enforcement

Bad initiative

If I-1639 is such a good idea, why do our state law enforcement organizations not support it?

It is a bad initiative and will not do anything to stop crime.

It just adds another unfunded mandate for law enforcement to deal with.

In my 20-plus years as a law enforcement officer, I have yet to see any gun control law do what the supporters say it will.

The only ones that obey each new law are the law-abiding citizens.

Criminals by their very nature could care less, that is why they are criminals.

As far as the mentally ill, if they have been adjudicated as mentally ill it will already be on the FBI’s data base when a dealer’s check is run.

In addition to being a bad law, it comes close to violating everyone’s 2nd Amendment rights as well as potentially violating everyone’s Fourth Amendment rights, “The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers and effects.”

I-1639 mandates that law enforcement review the health records of everyone who purchases a semi-auto rifle every year for the rest of their lives whether they have probable cause or not, whether it’s an evil black rifle or a .22 long rifle.

I have to wonder why the East Coast billionaires finance this type of initiative.

They could care less about us little people on anything else but they are all for gun control to protect us from ourselves.

An unarmed citizen is much easier to control.
