Writers’ group to share readings tonight in Sequim

SEQUIM — Fourteen local writers will read short selections from “Spontaneous Writing,” a book newly published by Wide Awake Publishing, at 6:15 tonight at The Lodge media room, 660 Evergreen Farm Road.

“Spontaneous Writing” includes fiction, poetry and memoirs from the Spontaneous Writing Group, which has met monthly in Sequim for three years, first under the leadership of Ruth Marcus and now Heidi Hansen and Bonnie Dickmann.

Each month, the group writes to specific prompts.

According to Hansen, “even though we all receive the same prompt, our experiences and interests produce a wide range of writings. This is what we will be demonstrating at this public reading.”

The writers selected to read selections from Spontaneous Writing include Gordon Anderson, Cheryle Hoskins Bigelow, Patricia DeMarco, Bonnie Dickmann, Heidi Hansen, Dianne Knox, Judy Larimore, Phil Libott, Ruth Marcus, George and Neva Miller, Terry Moore, Vyk Morrison and Lily Todd.

Five-minute open mic readings will follow the presentation.

Interested writers should come early to submit their names and should rehearse in advance as the readings are timed.

For guidelines, contact lindabmyers@yahoo.com.

The event is free but beverages and pastries may be purchased at the Bistro in the Lodge.
