CHIMACUM

‘Says You!’ on Sunday

CHIMACUM — The nationally broadcast radio quiz show “Says You!” will be recorded live at Chimacum High School at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The show will be at the school’s auditorium at 91 West Valley Road, which seats 500.

Tickets are $25 for general seating and $50 for premier seating in the first four rows.

People are encouraged to arrive as much as an hour early to hear the Unexpected Brass Band, said Arendt Speser, academic director of the Jefferson Clemente Foundation, which is sponsoring the show and which will receive all the proceeds.

“Says You!” is making its fourth appearance in the community for what has come to be known as “Quips on the Quimper.”

The show will be hosted by Dave Zobel and it will feature music by Matt Sircely with Eric Bogart and Stringology.

Book club

CHIMACUM — Shaping Worlds; Reshaping Perspectives will discuss “Parable of the Sower” by Octavia E. Butler from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The science fiction, fantasy and social justice book club meets at Finnriver Farm and Cidery, 124 Center Road.

In May the group will be discussing “Children of Blood and Bone” by Toni Adeyemi.

Author to speak

CHIMACUM — Kazu Kibuishi will speak from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday.

Kibuishi will be speaking in the auditorium at Chimacum High School, 91 West Valley Road.

Kibuishi is the author and illustrator of the “Amulet” series of graphic novels and the webcomic “Copper” and the “Daisy Kutter” series of comics.

The presentation will be followed by a book signing, copies of Kibuishi’s books will be available for purchase.

The lecture is part of the Green Thumb Garden Tips series held in the county commissioners meeting room in the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.

The free lecture series is sponsored by Washington State University Clallam County Extension’s Master Gardener Program.

Oja will describe different varieties of grasses, how to buy and plant ornamental grasses and provide tips on their care, including how and when to cut them back.

JOYCE — The Port Angeles Lions Club will host a benefit breakfast from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Sunday.

The meal will be served at the Crescent Bay Lions Clubhouse, 181 Holly Hill Road.

The Secords will provide music from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

The menu includes pancakes, French toast, biscuits and gravy, hash browns, breakfast meats and beverages.

The meal costs $7 per person, $4 for children; proceeds go to the Crescent Bay Lions for community programs.
