PORT TOWNSEND — Key City Public Theatre will present R&B/jazz artist Alanna Dailey in a concert this weekend that doubles as an album release party.
The concert will take place at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the Key City Playhouse, 419 Washington St.
Tickets for Saturday’s show are $15.
Dailey will unveil her newest album, “Little Dreams,” a collection of covers produced by ToolShed Soundlab.
The Port Townsend graduate first started to sing in local youth choirs and was soon inspired to learn blues and jazz by attending summer programs at Centrum, according to a news release.
She was then mentored by jazz musicians Pete Toyne and Jenny Davis.
Since then, Dailey has performed numerous times at the Upstage and other local venues.
Nearing her 21st birthday last year, she chose musician-producer George Rezendes to help her assemble and record an album of some of her favorite songs.
The recording was done at Rezendes’ Toolshed Soundlab Studios with Tom Svornich, drums; Dirk Anderson, bass; George Radebaugh, piano/Hammond B3/accordion; Kurt Festinger, sax/clarinet; Rezendes, guitars; Dave Meis, pedal steel guitar; David Conklin, bass; and Tomoki Sage, drums.
The recording is available for download at alanna shaladra.bandcamp.com/releases. CDs also will be available for sale at the concert or by emailing Dailey at Shaladra.pony@gmail.com.
Tickets are available in person at the KCPT box office, online at www.key citypublictheatre.org or by phone at 360-385-5278 (KCPT).
