Pancake breakfast to benefit Port Angeles Fire Department

PORT ANGELES — Park View Villas will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser to benefit the Port Angeles Fire Department on Saturday.

The breakfast will be from 8 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Park View Villas at 1430 Park View Lane, which is just off the corner of West G and Eighth streets in Port Angeles.

The cost for the breakfast is $10 for adults and $7 for children and seniors, with children 6 and younger dining for free.

While an RSVP was requested by Thursday, it’s not required to attend.

Proceeds go to department

All proceeds will go to the Port Angeles Fire Department.

“When Park View Villas Executive Director Chris Lelle and I started talking about reaching out in our community, the Fire Department leapt to mind,” said Beth Pratt, community relations director for the retirement facility.

“They are here every time we call, assisting in medical emergencies with professionalism and urgency. We wanted to show our appreciation in a tangible way.”

Chosen focus

After consulting with Fire Chief Ken Dubuc, a particular piece of equipment was selected as the focus of the fundraiser: a $1,500 video laryngoscope.

“These devices make it easier and safer for paramedics to intubate patients in the field,” Dubuc said.

On the breakfast menu will be pancakes, sausage, eggs and fruit.

Port Angeles Fire Department firefighters and EMTs will be on hand to give firetruck and aid car tours.

Attendees also can enter a raffle drawing. Tickets cost $5 each or five for $20.

Prizes include a quilt donated by Sleepy Valley Quilt Co., tickets to the Dungeness Crab & Seafood Festival in Port Angeles, one ride in a firetruck to school and three gift baskets arranged by Crestwood Health & Rehabilitation Center, Highland Court Memory Care and Park View Villas.
