Free outdoor concerts planned across Peninsula

The Navy Band of the Northwest will perform in Sequim on Tuesday as the next installment of the Music in the Park series.

Black Door Alley will play folk rock at Port Angeles’ Concerts on the Pier on Wednesday.

The High Council will perform “music for the head” at Port Townsend’s Concerts on the Dock on Thursday.

All three outdoor concerts on the North Olympic Peninsula are free. Attendees are encouraged to cozy up with chairs, blankets and picnic dinners.

Music in the Park

Sequim’s Music in the Park will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. each Tuesday through Aug. 29 at the James Center for Performing Arts, 563 N. Rhodefer Road.

One more show is planned this summer. On Aug. 29, the Stardust Big Band will perform big-band-era music.

Concerts on the Pier

Concerts on the Pier will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. every Wednesday through Sept. 20 at City Pier, 315 N. Lincoln St., Port Angeles..

Concerts on City Pier promise a low-key, family-friendly atmosphere.

No smoking is permitted. Should wind or rain dare to make an appearance, concerts will be relocated to the covered Gateway Plaza one block away.

Vendors, including the Hot Dog Cafe, will roll in for the occasion — plus, this year introduces a beer garden.

The rest of the summer lineup, which can be found at www.portangeles.org, includes:

• Aug. 30 — Geoffrey Castle; violin virtuoso.

• Sept. 6 — The Olympic Express; big-band sound.

• Sept. 13 — Black Rock; classic rock.

• Sept. 20 — Ranger & the “Re-Arrangers”; Gypsy jazz and swing.

Concerts on the Dock

Main Street’s Concerts on the Dock offer all-ages entertainment Thursdays at 4:30 p.m. through August at Pope Marine Plaza, 621 Water St., in Port Townsend.

Like Port Angeles’ Concerts on the Pier, Pope Marine Plaza features a serene waterfront setting. Local vendors and a beer, wine and cider garden will provide food and drink for the occasion.

The concerts are sponsored by Homer Smith Insurance, Kitsap Credit Union, Uptown Pub & Grill, Windermere Real Estate, LaughinGnome Pottery, KPTZ 91.9 FM, the Peninsula Daily News and the city of Port Townsend.

The rest of the summer lineup, which can be found at ptmainstreet.org/concerts-on-the-dock, includes:

One more show is scheduled this summer. Kevin Mason and the PT All Stars will perform Aug. 31.
