Port Angeles burglar faces charges in Forks, Joyce break-ins

Sean Vince Della, 28, is set to be arraigned today in connection with a burglary at the Blackberry Cafe.

PORT ANGELES — A man previously sentenced for burglarizing Port Angeles businesses is now facing charges in connection with burglaries at the Blackberry Cafe in Joyce and Chinook Pharmacy in Forks.

Sean Vince Della, 28, is facing charges of second-degree attempted burglary, making or having burglar tools, third-degree malicious mischief and community custody violations after the cafe was burglarized Sept. 22.

He is also facing second-degree burglary and third-degree malicious mischief charges after the Chinook Pharmacy was burglarized Sept. 2 He is set to be arraigned at 1:30 p.m. today.

Della remained in the Clallam County jail Thursday without bond. He was originally booked into the jail on a Department of Corrections warrant.

Court documents say the pharmacy’s cameras show Della in the store during a burglary. No items appeared to have been taken from the pharmacy, documents say.

Clallam County sheriff’s deputies arrived at the Blackberry Cafe at about 6:20 a.m. Sept. 22 after the business owner came to work and found her business alarm sounding and the outside door pried open, according to a news release.

Damages to the business, phone lines and electrical box were estimated at about $500.

Witnesses in the area told deputies they saw three people, two men and one woman, fleeing the area at about 1:30 a.m. when they heard the alarm sounding.

The three fled down Agate Beach Road and were suspected to have headed to some trailers parked in the area, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

A deputy searched a vehicle and found multiple knives, pry bars and other tools commonly used to commit burglaries, according to court documents.

The deputy also found several vehicle registrations and fragments of torn mail and other items associated with other cases still under investigation, court documents say.

Della previously pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree burglary and single counts of first-degree theft, second-degree attempted burglary and heroin possession last year.

He was charged in November 2014 with the attempted burglary of the White Cup Espresso in Sequim.

A Port Angeles police investigation also tied Della to the Dec. 9, 2014, burglary of Athlete’s Choice at 215 W. First St.; the Jan. 31, 2015, burglary of Sabai Thai restaurant at 903 W. Eighth St.; and the Feb. 1, 2015, burglary of Spotlight Tanning &Apparel at 715 E. First St.

After posting bail in March 2015, Della was arrested June 4, 2015, for investigation of drug possession. Port Angeles police said they found 1.3 grams of heroin in his right sock, court papers said.

He was sentenced in July 2015 to 12.75 months in prison, followed by 12.75 months of community custody.
