Comments due by March 30 for Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency boundary change plan

MOUNT VERNON — The U.S. Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency has proposed a boundary change for its county committee local administrative areas.

Under the proposed changes, LAA 4 and LAA 5, which include Clallam and Jefferson counties, respectively, would be merged into a single administrative area.

The proposal would reduce North Olympic representation on the Snohomish-Clallam-Jefferson county committee from two seats out of five to one seat out of four.

The other LAAs on the committee are Snohomish County north of U.S. Highway 2, Snohomish County south of U.S. Highway 2 and King County north of Interstate 90.

Farmers and ranchers in the affected counties may submit written comments until Saturday, March 30.

Comments should be mailed to Kent Stokes, USDA Farm Service Agency, 528 91st Ave. NE, Suite B, Lake Stevens, WA 98258-2538.
