Interfor announced July 31 that it was pulling the plug on its West End operations, closing its Beaver sawmill and Forks planer mill and consolidating some of those operations at the company's Port Angeles mill.
The closures affect 52 workers in Beaver and an additional 35 at the Forks mill.
The workshops will provide information regarding unemployment insurance benefits, employment and training resources, and related services.
Two sessions will be held Thursday at Forks High School, 261 Spartan Ave.
The first will run from 10 a.m. to noon, and the second will be2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

SEQUIM — Innovation Law Group Ltd. of Sequim said the U.S. Patent Office issued Patent No. 8,746,536 to Timothy M. Uecker, president of Meridian Stainless of Port Townsend.
The patent is directed to a weld stress-compensation system that prevents warping in tubular and rod members that is otherwise generated during welding.
Meridian Stainless fabricates stainless steel parts used in marine applications, such as railings, stanchions, platforms, ladders, stairways and other fittings.
Innovation assisted Uecker in the preparation, filing and prosecution of the patent application and in obtaining federal trademark registration for Angle-Rite, the trade name of the weld-stress compensation process.

PORT ANGELES — Jeanine Lee, vice president and marketing manager of First Federal, has graduated from the American Bankers Association School of Bank Marketing and Management held in Atlanta.
The two-year program provides marketers, managers and specialists with an education under the guidance and direction of faculty advisers composed of marketing professionals.
Students developed strategies to promote new products and received a foundation in marketing principles and management practices.
Lee has more than 25 years' experience in the financial services industry and has been with First Federal since 2011, beginning as a branch manager.
She accepted the position of marketing manager later that year.
Lee is responsible for managing the marketing and promotion of First Federal's products, services and people, most recently the opening of Silverdale's Bucklin Hill branch and the remodeling of the Port Angeles downtown branch, including its Interactive Teller Machine, or ITM.
