PORT ANGELES — A 69-year-old Port-Angeles-area man is dead after being involved in a single all-terrain-vehicle wreck on an ATV path near the intersection of U.S. Highway 101 and Hansen Road west of town.

Daniel Hilt was found at the bottom of an embankment by a neighbor at about 7:47 p.m. Monday, according to the Clallam County Sheriff’s Office.

“It looked like it was just an accident,” Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said today.

“He wasn’t wearing a helmet.”

Hilt was found deceased at the bottom of the 15-foot embankment with his four-wheeled ATV on top of him, said Sheriff’s Sgt. John Hollis.
