Not everyone in Jefferson and Clallam counties is voting in the primary. For example, the entire West End of Clallam County is getting a pass this time because the 2013 off-year races already have only two or fewer candidates.
However, there are important primaries in Port Townsend, Sequim, Port Angeles and some fire districts that cover unincorporated areas.
For example, two seats on the Port Townsend City Council, primary elections for commissioner in the ports of Port Angeles and Port Townsend, and a three-person race for a Port Angeles School District board seat are among the decisions voters in those jurisdictions must make.
And that's where the Peninsula Daily News' Primary Election Voter Guide comes in.
The 16-page guide features candidates' profiles and responses to questions in a Q&A format. There's also an article on the library bond issue in Port Townsend.
Since the deadline for returning ballots isn't until 8 p.m. Aug. 6, we urge you to research the candidates and issues in the Voter Guide, which first appear with the current Friday/Saturday editions of the Peninsula Daily News.
It's published as a public service and, as always, contains no political advertising.
The Voter Guide is posted online on this website (click on the "flying eagle" button on the homepage; Adobe Flash is required), and a limited number of free "hard" copies will be available at courthouses, city halls, senior centers and other public contact points in Port Townsend, Sequim and Port Angeles between now and the primary election ballot deadline.
