Peter Shayne allegedly yelled at the construction worker who was working in a shop owned by Shayne's landlord next door to his rental residence at 3045 O'Brien Road on Tuesday before exposing his buttocks and firing several shots into the air with an airsoft gun, a non-lethal replica that shoots plastic pellets via compressed air, Clallam County sheriff's deputies said.
Shayne was arrested after a two-hour standoff with deputies on O'Brien Road and is being held on $10,000 bond on investigation of fourth-degree assault, a gross misdemeanor, and indecent exposure, a misdemeanor.
He made a first appearance in District Court on Wednesday morning. His arraignment is scheduled for June 21.
Called to home
Deputies were called to Shayne's residence shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday.
Several deputies surrounded the house where Shayne had gone inside.
After more than two hours of negotiations, Shayne surrendered unarmed, deputies said.
Chief Deputy Ron Cameron said Shayne was agitated by the worker, who was sawing lumber.
Cameron said he allegedly yelled at the worker and pulled down his pants to make an obscene gesture before retreating back into the house and coming out with what appeared to be a pistol.
Cameron said Shayne fired a shot in the air, prompting the worker and landlord to run from the shop. He then allegedly fired several more shots into the air.
Cameron said the firearm used in the incident had an orange tip, which signifies the firearm is a replica.
Deputies also found several more air-powered guns.
