Satellite view shows the Christmas Day storm bearing down on the Washington-Oregon-British Columbia coastlines.

The National Weather Service has updated its forecast and now doesn't see snow in the offing for the lowland North Olympic Peninsula except the shores of Hood Canal, such as Brinnon..

...WINTER STORM WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 3 PM PST TUESDAY...

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN SEATTLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER STORM
WARNING FOR SNOW...WHICH IS IN EFFECT FROM 4 AM TO 3 PM PST TUESDAY.
THE WINTER STORM WATCH IS NO LONGER IN EFFECT.

* SOME AFFECTED LOCATIONS...SHELTON...BELFAIR...BRINNON...
SEABECK...AND HOODSPORT.

* TIMING...SNOW IS EXPECTED TO START EARLY CHRISTMAS MORNING AND
CONTINUE THROUGHOUT THE DAY BEFORE CHANGING OVER TO RAIN OR A
RAIN AND SNOW MIX. ABOVE THE 500 FOOT LEVEL...THE SNOW MIGHT
NOT CHANGE OVER TO RAIN UNTIL DURING THE EVENING.

* SNOW ACCUMULATIONS...5 TO 10 INCHES IS POSSIBLE...WITH A FOOT OF
SNOW POSSIBLE AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS ALONG THE WEST SIDE OF THE CANAL.

* MAIN IMPACT...TRAVEL MAY BECOME DIFFICULT DUE TO SNOWPACKED
ROADS. IN ADDITION...THE HEAVY SNOW COULD CAUSE LOCAL POWER
OUTAGES AND SNAP TREE LIMBS.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER IS OCCURRING
OR IMMINENT. THOSE PLANNING TRAVEL IN THE WARNING AREA SHOULD BE
PREPARED FOR HAZARDOUS...WINTER CONDITIONS.
