A Michigan cancer patient who says she was humiliated during a recent Seattle airport security pat-down on her way to Hawaii got a Transportation Security Administration escort through security as she headed home.
Michelle Dunaj (Dun-AY) has leukemia and says she's been told she has only a few months to live.
The 34-year-old Roseville, Mich., woman told KOMO-TV she was grateful for the TSA agent who escorted her Wednesday but added that she hopes to keep her embarrassing experience from happening to others.
Dunaj says screeners made her pull up her shirt and pull back bandages and refused to give her a private search. She says a machine couldn't get a reading on her saline bags so a TSA agent forced one open.
In a statement, the TSA disputed her accusations:
“At no point did a TSA officer open the passenger's medically necessary liquids and the passenger was never asked to remove or pull off any bandages.”
The agency said it reviewed video and “determined that our screening procedures were followed.”
