The arrest of Moises Ramirez Matias, 25, who also uses the alias Dario Ramirez Moises, was based on information received from the public, Klahn said.
Ramirez Matias, the target of a nationwide manhunt in the death of Laranda Konopaski, was transported to the Forks jail after his arrest, Klahn said.
The U.S. Border Patrol will put a detainer on Ramirez Martinez — believed to be Guatemalan — before he appears before Clallam County Superior Court on a charge of first-degree premeditated murder-domestic violence, Klahn said.
The Border Patrol was in the process of determining his legal status this morning, agency spokesman Richard Sinks said.
The couple's 4-year-old child was in the house at the time of the killing and called 9-1-1 to alert the authorities.
The girl, who was not injured, is in the custody of state authorities.
Ramirez Matias' arrest was the result of a joint investigation by the Forks Police Department and Clallam County Sheriff's Department.
