Undersheriff Rick Scott says 74-year old Alois Welle of Lakewood became separated from his hunting party northeast of Humptulips.
Scott told KXRO radio that Welle was in two-way radio contact with his hunting partners Monday but was unable to tell where he was as night fell.
The hunter had fired all his ammo in an unsuccessful attempt to let others know his location, Scott said.
Welle’s family says he is dressed for the elements but has some health issues and no food or water.
