Still in draft form, NOLS 2012 outlines service improvements for each of the public libraries in Clallam Bay, Forks, Port Angeles and Sequim and establishes a plan for fiscal stability for the library system.
The plan is based on the establishment of a library foundation and an increase in the library's property tax levy from 31 cents to 50 cents per $1,000 in assessed valuation to be put before Clallam County voters in November.
The town hall meetings schedule is:
• Port Angeles Main Library,2210 S. Peabody St., 7 p.m. Wednesday.
• Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave., at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21.
• Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave., at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26.
• Clallam Bay Library, 16990 state Highway 112, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 3.
The library system board, staff and representatives from each of the Friends of the Library groups have worked on developing the draft for the past 18 months.
Each meeting will open with an overview of the NOLS 2012 plan presented by members of the library board and staff, followed by questions, comments and suggestions from the audience.
Copies of the plan are available at each library or can be downloaded at the North Olympic Library System Web site, www.nols.org, by clicking on "About NOLS" and "NOLS 2012."
For more information about the library system or NOLS 2012, phone Library Director Paula Barnes at 360-417-8525 or e-mail director@nols.org.
