As of Tuesday, the campaign had raised $687,000. The goal is $1.1 million.
"United Way of Clallam County has seen some decreases in giving this year, although there are still many business and individuals donations which have not yet been returned to the United Way office," said Jody Moss, executive director.
The campaign, which began in September, runs through March 31.
"But most of the giving happens right now. In fact, we have had a steady stream of donors coming up to the office today," she said.
Donations go to 27 nonprofit agencies and three Community Solutions Programs: Access to Health Care, Access to Help / 211 and the Clallam County Literacy Council.
"Everyone knows the challenges our community has faced this year. Many agencies and businesses are facing daily evidence of these challenges," Moss said.
Pam and Jack Marshall, 2009 campaign co-chairs, encouraged community giving by everyone.
"As a county, we are known for being incredibly generous," they said in a statement.
"Since we are nearing end-of-year giving, families might want to talk about giving a gift to the community this holiday season through United Way. United Way encourages everyone, children through seniors, to give a little."
Campaign totals so far are:
• Sequim -- $153,426.
• Port Angeles -- $161,444.
• Forks -- $11,408.
• Crescent Schools -- $1,547.
• Clallam Bay/Sekiu -- $600.
• Employee groups -- $67,685.
• Olympic Medical Center Combined Fund Drive -- $130,471.
• Clallam County Employees -- $17,830.
• Combined Federal Campaign for federal employees -- $25,628.
• Corporate gifts -- $38,875.
The Washington State Employee Combined Fund Drive has not been reported yet this year, Moss said.
So far, United Way has received donations from 2,270 individuals or families, compared with last year's total of 3,089 donors, she added.
Funds raised during the campaign will provide financial support to agencies and individuals throughout 2010.
